This workshop is for all of you, who are longing to get an infusion of the modern vision of belly dance. Modern beats mixed with funky moves and combos will get your inspiration juices flowing. We will be discovering the influences from different dance styles and other fusion stylizations - hip hop, flamenco, jazz, electric boogie etc...
The workshop will start with a whole-body warm up and continue with breaking down isolations and movements. You'll learn a couple of fun, exciting and funky combinations to add to your repertoire.
Sunday 3rd April 2011
10-1 Manca Pavli: Beyond Choreography
This workshop is not just a simple choreography based-class! You will also get a sneak peek into the creative process and learn how to work through music interpretation, how to structure a combo and how to come up with new, fresh and exciting moves. You'll also learn some tricks which will help you when your inspiration is running low. Innovative combinations and moves will move you into a Tribal Fusion choreography. Manca Pavli is an acclaimed choreographer - her best work includes two international touring shows - Orient Under Construction and Bellydance Unveiled.
2-5 Samantha Emanuel: Combinations for Improvisation
"Jumping is to soaring as improvisation is to choreography" Lynne Anne Blom
Samantha is known for her liquid mercury movement which she contrasts with sharp articulated isolations.
In this class learn some of Sam's signature combos and then enjoy adding your own twist to them as we develop some more handy tools for improvisation.
Play with Tribal Style movements through practicing short combinations with varying tempos. Slow and strong, fast and fluid. Bring a yoga mat and drinking water.
